SMALL GROUP TRAINING

Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness level or learn a new skill, we have a variety of small group training courses that are perfect for any level and experience. Most small group training courses take place for six weeks in total and meet twice a week. Our instructors and trainers are highly experienced and knowledgeable to help you achieve your goals, and have fun while doing it! Spring 2024

10K Training Team

Need the motivation to run your first race or a team to improve your pace? Join VCU RecWell's 10k Training Team. This full 12-week training schedule is for novice to advanced runners. Participants will receive personal guidance from our experienced running coach and certified personal trainer.

The first 6 weeks will focus on timed, fartlek, and interval training while the second 6 weeks will focus on strength, balance and recovery. Beyond exercise this program will include education on nutrition, sleep, stretching, running attire and more. VCU RecWell will also offer in person race day support.

Women+ On Weights

Defeat your fitness center phobias! In this program a Certified Personal Trainer will teach you the foundational methods of resistance training and workout design. You will start with basic movements in the FitZone at Cary Street Gym to build confidence and progress to the rest of the fitness floor for more advanced exercise. Each week you will learn about new equipment and exercises so you can feel confident in the weight room. Your trainer will utilize strength machines, resistance bands, cable stacks, and free weights to build your skill and knowledge of proper technique and progressions.   This program is open to women, and individuals who are non-binary and/or gender non-conforming.  Start achieving your goals through knowledge and strength!

Ram Power Challenge

Start the year off meeting your biggest fitness goals. RecWell’s Ram Power Challenge will allow you to test your strength by completing your 3 main power lifts, squat, bench press and deadlift. Never tried these before? Have no fear, our personal trainers and fitness floor attendants will guide you through each exercise. After learning the basics each participant will have 2 chances to test their strength on each lift. Explore your strength and step up to the bar.
