Recreation & Well-Being Rate Update (July 2022)

Recreation and Well-Being (RecWell) strives to provide affordable, high quality recreation and fitness opportunities for the VCU community, including our students, faculty/staff, alumni, and community members. Over the past six years, we have held our membership rates steady while continuing to enhance our programs and services, including the addition of instructional programs, Fitness on Demand, and replacing nearly all of our fitness equipment. 

To ensure we are able to offer the same quality experiences for our members, RecWell has made the decision to raise our rates effective July 1, 2022. This will help offset the increases we’ve experienced in student staff wages and operating expenses, and fund planned maintenance and facility improvement projects, such as replacement of lockers and locks in the locker rooms, refurbishment of the outdoor basketball court to enhance outdoor recreation space, and replacement of the climbing wall.

Monthly Billing Members

All monthly billing agreements will auto-terminate on Thursday, June 30. Members will have the ability to begin new agreements with us beginning Friday, July 1. 

Payroll Deduction Members

The payroll deduction amounts will automatically increase for payroll period 13 (June 24-July 9) which pays out on July 15, 2022. 

Members who wish to cancel their payroll deductions may do so by following the directions on the cancel my membership page. 

Term Membership Members

Updated term membership rates will go into effect July 1, 2022. Any memberships purchased before July 1 will be at the current rate. Members who hold an active membership over the course of the change will see no change in membership status.
