Frequently Asked Questions
Intramural sports are played on campus among VCU students, faculty, and staff. Intramural sports provide exercise, recreation, competition, and fun to participants in a relaxed, yet structured environment. Intramurals offer the thrill of competition while placing an emphasis on fairness and sportsmanship for teams and individuals.
Sport Club participants concentrate on improving their skills and competing/participating in one sport such as rugby or soccer. They also primarily compete against teams/organizations from institutions outside of Virginia Commonwealth University. Intramural participants join teams with their friends and classmates at VCU and compete against other teams within the VCU community.
- Any currently enrolled student or paid employee (faculty & staff) affiliated with Virginia Commonwealth University is eligible to participate and purchase an intramural semester pass. Alumni and community members are not eligible to participate
- Note: Intramural passes are active for one semester. (i.e. Fall 2022, Spring 2023)
The $10 Intramural Semester Pass covers registration for all mini-leagues, full leagues and tournaments offered in a given semester. A semester pass is effective from the date of purchase until the last day of that particular semester. To purchase your pass today, click on Intramural Season Pass.
- There are various types of league play available to our participants. For each team sport, all participants are allowed to compete on one (1) gender-specific team and one (1) CoRec team.
- Men's and Women's Leagues are gender-specific leagues. CoRec Leagues are mixed-gender leagues.
Starting Fall 2023, teams must be initially created on the waitlist for the given league they are joining, and must have 3 people be on their roster before moving to the division of their choice, as long as an open spot is available. This is to limit the number of teams with only 1 player joining a division and then not having enough players to play.
